Serie los Gallos Tapaos: Reales de Kansas City (The Underdogs Series: Kansas City Royals)

La arrancada de Zack Greinke con 6-1 y 0.51 de efectividad quizás sea insuficiente para llevar a los Reales a luchar por el banderín de la División Central de la Liga Americana o el comodín. Sin embargo las actuaciones de Brian Bannister (3-0, 1.48), Jamey Wright (0-1, 1.83), Mark Teahen, Alberto Callaspo, Billy Butler, Mike Jacobs; hacen pensar que la cosa va en serio.

Quizás habría que esperar a ver que pasa en los próximos dos meses. La División Central de la Liga Americana tiene equipos como Chicago, Cleveland, Minnesota y Detroit que también tienen las armas para pelear el banderín hasta las últimas consecuencias. Lo más llamativo de esto es que los Reales en hipotéticas condiciones desventajosas hayan empezado jugando a un alto nivel, fajándose con equipos como los Yanquis, Medias Blancas, Texas, Cleveland, Toronto.

On Saturday, May 16th, 2009, Greinke proved again that he’s essential in the chance that the Royals could have of going to the post-season or at least of finishing with an over .500 record for the first time since the 2003 season. Greinke allowed only an earned run, 6 hits, 2 walks and struckout 6 in 7 innings against the Baltimore Orioles. The Royals won 8-1. But the Royals will need that at least Bannister, Gil Meche and Kyle Davies perform consistently to give the bull pen of Wright, Robinson Tejeda, Ron Mahay, Juan Cruz and the injured Joakim Soria, the chance of saving the victories.
