  • Francisco Cordova had thrown a career-high 121 pitches when he was removed from the game.
  • Pinch-hitter Mark Smith won the game with a walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th, only the second time a no-hitter was capped off by a walk-off home run (Virgil Trucks vs. Senators on May 15, 1952 at Tiger Stadium in Detroit).
  • Cordova and Ricardo Rincon are both natives of Mexico and joined Fernando Valenzuela (vs. Cardinals on June 29, 1990 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles) as the only Mexican-born pitchers to throw a no-hitter in MLB history.
  • Rincon is the only reliever to record a win in a combined no-hitter where the starter went at least nine innings.
  • Rincon is also one of only four relievers to record a win in a combined no-hitter (Ernie Shore, 1917; Brad Lidge, 2003; Stephen Pryor, 2012).
