"I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Koufax. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings."
Koufax walked 5 and struck out 7 in the 5-0 victory.
Thus far this season Koufax has posted a 18-10 record, started 35 games, struck out 234 batters in 269.2 innings and compiled a 3.77 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | 2B Bobby Grich | torn back muscle | 4 weeks | On DL, eligible for return | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 72-82, .468 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 36-41, .468 PCT | | Record on the road | 36-41, .468 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 18-19, .486 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 17-26, .395 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 55-56, .495 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 7-16, .304 PCT | | Record in May | 11-13, .458 PCT | | Record in June | 10-14, .417 PCT | | Record in July | 14-12, .538 PCT | | Record in August | 11-13, .458 PCT | | Record in September | 14-11, .560 PCT | | Record in October | 5-3, .625 PCT |
