It turns out that SD's Bruce Hurst needed little run support to beat MON-WAS today 1-0 at Petco Park. In a solid outing Hurst recorded 7 strikeouts and 1 walk as he held the Expos to 3 hits and shut them out.
His record this season is 15-7 in 29 starts and Hurst has a 4.15 ERA.

| Saturday, August 30th, 2008: Hurst Spins Shutout Against Orioles
In a standout performance today at Petco Park, Padres pitcher Bruce Hurst blanked the STL-BAL Orioles 6-0. He limited them to 4 hits and posted 6 strikeouts and no walks to gain the win for SD.
In 28 starts this season Hurst has fashioned a 14-7 record and a 4.35 ERA.

Teddy Higuera of the SEA-MIL Brewers put the clamps on the opposition and held the SD Padres scoreless in a 5-hit whitewash.
"He's got some good stuff, but we should have done better than that," said the SD skipper after the 5-0 loss.
Higuera was on target most of the game and finished with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks.
So far this season Higuera has a 5-12 record with a 4.93 ERA.
