Did You Know?
  • This was the first no-hitter thrown by a Padres pitcher in franchise history and broke a 52-year drought that reached 8,206 regular season games.
  • The Padres were the last team without a no-hitter and it came almost nine years after the New York Mets broke their 50-year drought in 2012 that lasted 8,019 regular season games (Johan Santana vs. Cardinals on June 1, 2012 at Citi Field in New York).
  • The only Rangers hitter to reach base was Joey Gallo, who was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning.
  • Musgrove is a native of San Diego County and grew up a Padres fan, so when he joined the team he took number 44 in honor of his childhood hero, former Padres pitcher Jake Peavy.
  • Musgrove made 108 appearances in five years with the Astros and Pirates before being traded to San Diego on January 19, 2021 and was making only his second start for the Padres when he threw his no-hitter.
  • Musgrove's no-hitter extended his scoreless innings streak to 31, dating back to September 15, 2020 when Cincinnati's Tucker Barnhardt homered in the second inning. Musgrove added another scoreless inning to his streak on April 14, 2021 before Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco homered in the second to break it at 32.
  • This was the second of two no-hitters caught by Vic Caratini (Alec Mills vs. Brewers on September 13, 2020 at Wrigley Field in Chicago).
  • Caratini is the 11th catcher in MLB history to catch consecutive no-hitters, but the first to achieve the feat for different teams.
  • Globe Life Field had hosted only 33 regular season games prior to Musgrove's no-hitter. (Only Oakland soonest?)

Did You Know?
  • Hyeon-jong Yang was the first Korean pitcher to be on wrong end of no-hitter.
  • Kluber's no-hitter followed Spencer Turnbull's (vs. Mariners on May 18, 2021 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle) by just a day and was the first time there have been two no-hitters within a two day span since Fernando Valenzuela (vs. Cardinals at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles) and Dave Stewart (vs. Blue Jays at SkyDome in Toronto) each threw a no-hitter on June 29, 1990.
  • The only Rangers batter to reach base was Charlie Culberson, who drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the third inning.
