Did You Know?
- Kralick had a perfect game going with one out in the top of the ninth, but walked pinch hitter George Alusik before recording the final two outs. Even more impressive was that the Kansas City A's were leading the American League in hitting at the time and finished second behind only the Yankees.
- Ed Charles almost spoiled the no-hitter and shutout in the fourth inning when he drove a pitch to right-center field that was heading for the bullpen, but right fielder Bob Allison leapt and backhanded the ball above the eight-foot fence to rob Charles of a home run.
