Trivia
  • Coors Field is the first active park to feature a grand slam in its first game and one of two (Grady Sizemore (CLE) to RF vs. Damaso Marte at Yankee Stadium II: 4/16/2009).
  • Jarry Park in Montreal also featured a grand slam in its first game and is one of three (Dal Maxvill (SLN) vs. Larry Jaster: 4/14/1969) among all parks (minimum 300 games).
  • Hideo Nomo has thrown the only no-hitter at Coors Field (through 2025) and when he tossed a no-hitter at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore in 2001, he became the first pitcher to throw the first no-hitters at two different active parks.
  • Nomo's no-hitter at Coors Field is the only regular-season no-hitter with an attendance of at least 50,000.
  • The 14-inning game between the Rockies and Mets was the longest (by innings) of any first game in a park (minimum 300 games).
  • Three umpires--Mike Riggins, Joe Padilla, and Dick Jackson--made their MLB debuts in the first game at Coors Field.
