- Hideo Nomo was the first Japanese-born pitcher to throw a no-hitter in Major League Baseball history and is one of only two (Hisashi Iwakuma vs. Orioles on August 12, 2015 at Safeco Field in Seattle).
- With an attendance of 50,066, this was the largest crowd to witness a regular season no-hitter until the Cubs threw a combined no-hitter against the Dodgers on June 24, 2021 in front of 52,175 fans at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Only Don Larsen's perfect game against the Dodgers on October 8, 1956 at Yankee Stadium I had a larger attendance (64,519).
