Did You Know?
- On the game's first play Edinson Volquez collided with batter/runner Rey Fuentes while taking a throw from first baseman Justin Bour and rolled his ankle, but he walked it off and stayed in the game.
- In the fourth inning Paul Goldschmidt hit a high chopper up the middle and shortstop J.T. Riddle got to it in plenty of time, but made a wild throw that pulled Bour off the bag. Goldschmidt was called safe, but replays showed Bour tagged him before he reached first and the call was overturned.
- Volquez almost left the game after five innings due to pain in his ankle, but continued on and threw the sixth no-hitter in Marlins history.
- He dedicated his no-hitter to pitchers Yordano Ventura and Jose Fernandez, both of whom died in tragic accidents.
- This is the first of two no-hitters caught by J.T. Realmuto (Michael Lorenzen vs. Nationals on August 9, 2023 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia).
